Will Vaping Be Banned in the UK?

Electronic cigarettes and vaping is already banned in multiple countries and cities across the world. Only at the beginning of 2020 did San Francisco ban the sale of e-cigarettes in the city.

However, now it looks like the UK is also in trouble and could spell disaster for over 3 million vapers in the country.

The World Health Organisation

Back in January 2020 the World Health Organisation came to the conclusion that vaping is bad for your health and can increase the risk of heart disease and lung problems. Their recommendations are directly towards devices which allow you to control the devices features and settings as well as choosing what ingredients you put in your tank. This method of vaping is known as open-vaping and is the most popular way of vaping. Therefore, if these recommendations were taken on board then it could affect almost 80% of the vaping community.

What about cigarettes?

I hear you asking these questions out loud and I can honestly tell you that you are not the only one asking. There is so little evidence about health consequences when it comes to vaping, but there is so much evidence when it comes to smoking.

Vaping has been known to be one of the most effective ways of quitting smoking, they plan to outlaw the sale of e-cigarettes yet continue to allow the sale of a product that a lot of vapers are trying to get away from (cigarettes of course).

By doing this, people will revert back to smoking and then increase the risk of a smoking based illness. Smoking based deaths in the UK will start to rise again and who will be blamed exactly? Will it be us for smoking? Or will it be the people who chose to make the safer option illegal?

When will the decision be made?

Luckily, the decision won’t be made for a while. The Sun stated ‘Its recommendation has been forwarded to governments around the world and will be discussed later this year at a conference in Glasgow.’

So there we have it, it’s all up in the air for the time being. We do have a lot of people on the side of vaping, which is some hope amongst the madness. British health officials themselves have confirmed that vaping is a lot safer than smoking by 97% and recommend it to individuals who are attempting to quit smoking.
